OTIS 'MADE TO MOVE YOU'
Elisha Otis’ invention of the elevator safety brake made the modern skyscraper possible and forever changed the urban landscape. The ‘Made to Move You’ poem is a specially commissioned work of art for the ‘Made to Move You’ exhibition by Otis, held at The Tate Modern in October 2016.
For this live installation I created the 'signature' ident, and worked on content for the live screens from concept art to final outputs. This involved grading images and adding convincing moving 3D shadows to Otis archive instruments. It was crucial to not oversell the effect and stay true to the noble heritage associated with the brand.
Using CAD drawings for reference I also created a to-scale animated lift diagram which moved up and down a 15ft x 4ft screen and made for an impressive statement peice. The aim was to expose the tecnicalities involved with building such a complex machine show its many moving parts working in unison.
